A daily dose of vicarious crafting
In my hunt for some record themed crafts I came across some great little accessories. Hair clips, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. These are a few of my favorites.
I love the simplicity of the implied records on this necklace made of buttons by Minski. Maybe you’re looking for something that’s a little less representational, like something literally made out of a record? Check out these rad record cuff bracelets.
(L) This great wide record cuff is made by etsy seller wonderful.
(R) Christine of EyePopArt made this simple record cuff, and gave it a coat of blue paint.
For a while now I’ve wanted to try my hand an making one of these. My friend Juniper and I used to make journals, bowls and coasters out of old scratched up records and album covers that were in abundant supply at the record store she owns with her husband Dave. We had a couple times discussed trying to make some other things, like record cuffs but never figured out a good way to cut them. Turns out it was easier than we thought. Jennifer Perkins of Stylelicious showed how to make these on their show, you can check out the steps to make your own here.
I started this blog after I realized that I spend way more time looking at crafty things than making crafty things, a practice I’ve dubbed crafterbation. I wanted create an outlet to share all the great crafty things I find that I would love to make, if only I had the time and the motivation to actually complete them. When the mood strikes and I do actually make something, you can read about that here as well.

Lord do I love the name of your blog! Glad you found the episode of Stylelicious where I whip up the record bracelets. They are surprisingly easy to make. I need to put them on Naughty Secretary Club again.

Thanks for featuring my blue painted cuff! I actually learned this technique from that exact tutorial! I’ve been painting mandalas on records for years, and I’d been making bowls and mirrors out of them - a friend of mine, who had been pestering me to make cuffs, sent me the link to Jennifer’s tutorial and I was on my way!
I remember it well because I used to be in a band with a girl drummer whose name was Jennifer Perkins (aka Jen Bad) so the name kind of stuck in my head. Thanks!

I, too, was looking for this tutorial! Mary from Smitten had told me about it and I kind of got the jist from her explanation, but this helps a lot.
Great week of posts, btw. Near and dear to the heart!!
