A daily dose of vicarious crafting
In some stumbling through flickr groups recently I came upon the fantastic work of lupin. She makes these fabulous brooches which are all hand-cut and hand-stitched felt. (I hope I’m not making a terrible presumption in assuming lupin is a she, but no where in any of the flickr/blog/esty profiles did it say…)
My friend Bob loves squirrels… if only there was a “masculine” answer to the brooch I’d be all set for next xmas.
I think what grabs me the most about her designs are all the little details like the beads in this cherry blossom, or the inset stitiching on the squirrel’s leg. So great! Lupin’s work seems to be mostly inspired by nature, if only nature were insanely cute! Flowers, leaves, acorns, bugs and little woodland creatures are just the beginning, she’s also got a real thing for tea and cakes. Must be a UK thing… Check out lupin’s etsy shop for more.
I started this blog after I realized that I spend way more time looking at crafty things than making crafty things, a practice I’ve dubbed crafterbation. I wanted create an outlet to share all the great crafty things I find that I would love to make, if only I had the time and the motivation to actually complete them. When the mood strikes and I do actually make something, you can read about that here as well.
