A daily dose of vicarious crafting
I guy I used to work with, Chris, and I used to talk about squids all the time. He was obsessed. One day he sent me a link to this crocheted squid and it started a flurry of IM’d links to squid and squid related crafts. We must have found dozens but out of all of them, this one was most definitely my favorite.
The amazing squid tie by Jessica of aorta. It’s a fabulous illustration of her own design that couldn’t be more perfectly suited for a tie. Chris was also anamored with it and I promised someday I would try and make him one.
Sadly nearly a year has gone by, we no longer work together, and we have both since moved. I’m sure he has lost all hope, but someday I will make good on this promise! On a side note, in going through some of Jessica’s other designs I happened upon this awesome design she calls “Octowuss.” He bears an uncanny resemblance to Chris, with his thick framed glasses. Don’t loose hope Chris, but if you do, you can always buy one from aorta’s esty store.
I started this blog after I realized that I spend way more time looking at crafty things than making crafty things, a practice I’ve dubbed crafterbation. I wanted create an outlet to share all the great crafty things I find that I would love to make, if only I had the time and the motivation to actually complete them. When the mood strikes and I do actually make something, you can read about that here as well.
